Steadfast Nutrition Carborance Review | During Workout

Steadfast Nutrition Carborance Review

Recently, we got a chance to review Steadfast nutrition’s Carborance, a.k.a carbohydrates for endurance athletes.

What is carborance?

Carborance is a long chain complex carbs, specially designed for endurance athletes who are involved in high-intensity workouts for over 2-hours.


Maltodextrin -

Maltodextrin is a complex carbohydrate. It has 6 to 10 glucose units that provide gradual energy. This ingredient helps sustain energy especially, during endurance training rides. Also, there are lower chances of insulin drop.

2. Pregelatinized Corn Starch -

This ingredient acts as a vital source of energy by contributing a steady flow of glucose for endurance rides. Also, Pregelatinized Corn Starch is gluten-free and low in sodium. This reduces that changes of allergies and eliminates blood pressure rise.

This could also be the reason for the translucency colour of the steadfast nutrition carbornace.

3. Sucrose -

When a molecule of glucose and fructose combine, we get sucrose. This breaks down in our body to provide energy. It also reduces the abdominal discomfort that you might have ever felt while consuming glucose directly.

4. Fructose -

Another ingredient that provides a slow and steady source of energy is Fructose. It’s responsible for delivering slow energy during your rides. Also, the sweetness in the taste comes from here.

5. Sodium Chloride -

While cycling or performing any other endurance activity, loss of fluid in the form of sweat and sodium chloride is normal. To revive this loss, NaCl is added for optimal rehydration.


Once we mixed the product with water, it dissolved after shaking it a bit. The water looked translucent in the bottle and tasted sweet and muddy on the palate.

We certainly didn’t find the taste that tempting though. But once you get used to it, it goes fine.

(This is because there are No added flavour/colour/preservative/steroids/thickeners in Carbornace or other Steadfast products)

Ease of digestion:

Once we consumed the during- workout, it goes easy on the inner lining of the stomach. It also does not give any burps or make you feel uneasy while pedalling. Besides, within a matter of 12- to 15 minutes you can see the effects of Carborance in your performance.

It works two ways-

Provides instant energy (the rush of energy was instantly observed after 12–15 minutes)
Sustained energy for endurance (We didn’t feel much during our review rides)

Dissolve rate:

The carborance powder solubilises quickly when dissolved in water. This makes it easy to consume almost immediately.


Steadfast is a Delhi based premium sports nutrition company. After we tried out Carbornace, we feel the product to be above average as compared to other nutrition products in the market.

It’s easily mixed and can be consumed right after. Also, it gives you the much-needed boost to improve your performance so you can make every pedal count. The only thing we couldn’t feel much was the release of slow energy post the spike in the workout.


If you are looking for a good high quality during workout product that will provide instant energy and also sustain for long, trust us, it won’t be affordable. A box of seven Carborance will cost you around INR 665 i.e INR 95 per serving.

We found it a bit expensive.

How to prepare Carborance?

As you can see, Carborance comes in a sachet that is easy to carry around. You can put it in your cycling jersey or in your saddle pouch. And when you need to consume follow the steps below:-

1. Fill around 250 ml of water in a Shaker
2. Tear on the mark and add it to the shaker and shake for 10 to 20 seconds
3. Add more water to top it off and shake again
4. Consume

If you’re cycling long distance, consider carrying two bottles (one for water and one for during workout)

What we like:

  • Good quantity/serving
  • Easy to mix
  • Easy to digest

What we didn’t like:

  • Slightly overpriced
  • Taste could be better
  • Slow release of energy could be better

Our verdict: Steadfast Nutrition Carborance Review

On the overall, we liked the product and would rate it a 3.5/5.

On our trials, we did find the product to give a spike in performance after consuming but for a short period of time.

Later, we couldn’t feel or notice whether the products slow release of energy is making an effect on our performance.
